Altitude project

Purpose

The altitude project came into being in 2021.

1. The ALTITUDE project is one of 𝙄𝙉𝘼𝘼𝙌𝘾 ᴮᴼ’s branches.
2. Our objective is to produce high-quality academic and scientific content to improve the care of our patients living at high, very high, or extreme altitudes.
3. We have academic sessions with our altitude team and EFAC members to appraise the current medical evidence
4. We discuss the pertinence, feasibility and validity of potential altitude-related clinical scientific studies with renowned worldwide experts
5. Our altitude team, EFAC members and worldwide collaborators work together with renowned scientific advisors on the development and publication of our studies.

Based on our principles and values, the purposes of the Altitude Project are to:

Main objective

To share evidence-based information on Critical Care Medicine and Intensive Care at altitude (above 2500 masl).

Secondary objectives

Conduct studies on inhabitants of altitude

Provide scientific resources useful for professional practice

Implement our findings in clinical practice at altitude

Follow international guidelines for carrying out the studies

To consolidate academic activities applied to the altitude context.

To establish clear goals, fixed timelines and a strategic plan for each project.

To consolidate clinical scientific activities applied to the altitude context.

To implement the "SMART goals" methodology (SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bounded).
